The Customer

The client is one of the leading American HVAC and MEP contractors. Having been in the AEC industry for over 80 years, they have a strong foothold and reputation in the industry. They are well-known as a specialty general contractor and have worked with some of the leading clients for various projects such as transportation systems, educational buildings, water treatment plants, high-rise buildings, etc.

The Requirement

The client was looking for an efficient and reliable HVAC modeling service providing company. They wanted the HVAC modeling done in Autodesk Revit software of a 19-Story building. They were also looking for a coordinated Revit file by performing a detailed clash detection of the MEP systems.

Project Challenges

Our team of engineers at Flatworld Solutions had to face a few challenges while implementing the HVAC modeling project for the client. Some of the major challenges we faced were:

  1. The client wanted our team to complete the project within a quick time of just three weeks. Considering the global pandemic situation, our team had to employ the right resources to get the project completed within the deadline.
  2. We had to hire 10 highly skilled and experienced MEP engineers for the project as we had a short deadline ahead of us.

FWS' Solution

Keeping in mind the client's requirements and the project challenges, our team devised a streamlined and systematic plan for the project. The client provided us with the required AutoCAD files along with the HVAC drawings. They also furnished us with the architectural floor plans in Navisworks for more reference.

We employed 9 engineers and 1 quality control specialist for the project. We divided the project into 7 milestones and began the project from the top floor of the building and moved our way down. We created the HVAC models in the Revit software and sent them for quality checks. Once the client was satisfied with the models, we imported the models into Navisworks and removed the clashes. We sent the final Revit file to the client without any clashes.

The Results

The client was highly impressed by the quality of the coordinated file and the clash detection services delivered by our team. The client was not only impressed by the quality of the files delivered by us but also the cost-effectiveness of the entire project. The client has also promised to extend the contract and provide us with more projects in the future.
