Developed an e-Learning Platform for a Global IT Organization

The Client and their Requirement

Flatworld Solutions was approached by a leading multinational IT organization that had offices around the world. With thousands of employees under them, they were facing massive issues while training new employees, as most of the training courses did not align with their company goals.

Therefore, they wanted to build from the ground-up a modern e-Learning platform which could deliver online courses for new employees while providing consistent on-the-job training for older ones. The platform had to be robust, easily scalable, and more importantly, had to be easy to understand for new employees, most of who were hired fresh out of college. Finally, they also required the LMS (Learning Management System) to work well over their corporate VPN for security reasons.

Project Challenges and the Flatworld Solution

The client had performed a thorough evaluation of Learning Management Systems and had a clear set of requirements. They approached us based on the quality of our prior work, and industry experience. At the same time, because of the scope of the project, they did not want to leave anything to chance and therefore expected us to deliver the best possible results as we could. These lofty expectations were further compounded by the fact that we had a very short turnaround window within which we had to deliver the project.

In order to ensure the above, we took following steps -

• A hybrid solution was developed to meet the clients' expectations and a dedicated software team customized our superior in-house LMS as per the requirements of the client
• We ensured that the platform was able to synchronize data and overall functionality across the global servers the client had in place
• 12 dedicated e-Learning servers were set on the clients' VPN, as requested
• We delivered the final, working platform within the requested time, while ensuring enhanced functionality and dependability at each and every office location belonging to the IT organization

Project Results

The project and the comprehensive e-Learning platform was a massive success. Some of the highlights of the project include -

• The client was extremely satisfied with the overall cost attached to the project, as they were not only able to develop and integrate a world-class e-Learning platform in a cost-effective manner, but also saved millions of dollars spent on manually training new employees
• The LMS platform developed by FWS was customized thoroughly so as suit the 3 most important client requisites; multiple servers, multiple locations, and synchronized learning
• The training sessions held with our LMS were not only secure and well-planned, but their centralization and sync feature ensured employees could train at their own pace, whenever they felt comfortable, and from a place of their own choosing
• Many other miscellaneous benefits were achieved such as overall reduction in training set-up and employee time-spent, reduction in travel costs, etc.
• The move to a fully virtual e-Learning platform was also an immense infrastructural success for the client
