Medical Coding Process at Flatworld Solutions - Process and Delivery Model

Our AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) certified coders receive a charge sheet or hospital intake form and abstract the handwritten diagnosis-related information into a code that is ready for data entry. Each of our coders has at least 4 years of hands-on experience, and is well-trained to deliver the requirements of the task.

Pre-sales Requirements Analysis

We start our process after receiving client's approval to conduct assessment of existing process framework, and outline the potential benefits of outsourcing. At this stage, we facilitate requirements analysis study, covering the processes to be supported, types of files & formats used, reports to be generated, turnaround time and service levels.

Coding

The coding activity is split into two critical areas-Procedural and Diagnostic Coding. Our Certified Coders (CPC) facilitate this process in line with CPT Assistant, HCPCS Level II, ICD-10-CM, and LMRP guidelines. Later, the Coding team evaluates the documents to verify that the diagnosis is compatible with the assigned procedure code.

Receiving Client Files

The client sends us patient charts and related information as scanned copies that are uploaded into our secure FTP site.

Downloading and Allocating Files

Our Medical Coding team downloads the files and allocates them to the appropriate Pre-coders and Coders for processing.

Pre-coding

Upon downloading the files allocated to them, the Pre-coders capture key information such as Name of the Physician, Place of Service, price modifiers etc.

Upload of Completed Files

Files with the successfully completed coding work are uploaded to our secure FTP site.

Quality Evaluation

The client receives the files uploaded onto our FTP site and evaluates data quality and consistency..

Feedback from Client

We evaluate the feedback shared by the client on data quality and facilitate the necessary improvements and data quality refinements to ensure we offer reliable and accurate medical coding services.
