A Case Study on Sticker Design for Australian Rugby Club

The Customer

Flatworld Solutions was contacted by a promotions and branding company about the development of customized stickers for their clients - a group of Australian rugby teams. They needed a large quantity of stickers - 753 in total - and these stickers needed to be designed in 7 different sizes. They also needed to contain images of the teams, players, and more so that they could be used as promotional material in some upcoming matches.

With the rugby season right around the corner, the client needed a partner that would be able to deliver these stickers within a very short timeframe, as well as create high quality custom stickers with little to no design instruction. Flatworld Solutions responded to this request quickly, and was selected for the role.

The Challenge

The client required all 753 designs (in all 7 sizes) to be designed and completed within 30 days. This high quantity of designs, along with the number of images that had to be analyzed and used in these designs, required a significant attention to detail and a careful analysis of the client's requirements. The client also did not have many specific design requests in mind, which mean that Flatworld Solutions would need to approach the project with a designer's eye, doing their best to anticipate the needs of the client.

The Solution

Flatworld Solutions put 7 dedicated designers on the task, in order to handle the large quantity of designs. One sample was provided for approval before the team started on the additional 752 designs. Stickers were created using the images provided, as well as some custom additions based on the client's expectations. All stickers were designed with Adobe InDesign.

Stickers had to be created with extra bleed space (space that ensures that ink goes beyond the edges of the sticker so that the design is intact after peeling). Each sticker set of 7 sizes was provided to the client for approval, and any feedback received would be shared with the entire Flatworld Solutions team. The team worked 7 days a week (including weekends) to ensure completion by the deadline.

The Results

The team at Flatworld Solutions was able to achieve 99.9% accuracy, and matched the client's benchmark. All stickers were created within the 30-day timeframe. By the end of the project, the client notified the staff at Flatworld that they were highly satisfied with the project, and would be using Flatworld Solutions for future design work.
